Subject: The tree causes a lot of problems.
Subject: The tree causes a lot of problems.
This series was first aired in 1955 on ABC for the first season and the second season was aired in syndication. It is a drama series that bases its episodes on real life experiences of clergyman. There are usually new characters and plots in every new episode. This episode of “Crossroads” was about the experience a clergyman had while planning to introducing America's first Christmas tree into an American service during Christmas Eve of 1851. A Reverend new to America, Reverend Henry Schwan, wants to introduce the Christmas tree to his congregation during the Christmas Eve service. Schwan’s reason to do this is to make this time a happy and fun holiday, especially for the kids. However many of the adults, mainly the parents’ of the children, misinterpret his attentions. After this many other events occur that puts the Reverend in bad positions because the parents misinterpret the situations every time.
It’s a classical television show in black and white, with sound. The quality of the image is not that perfect, it’s a little blurry. However the sound is strong and clear. Its story line is religious, with multiple mentions of their beliefs and practices. It follows a clear plot line of a problem occurring with multiple events adding to the problem and the protagonists finding a solution in the end. However, there is some deviation of this as a new character is introduced in the end and we see the difference between him and Henry. Beside the ‘seriousness’ atmosphere there are some scenes which are comedic, moments that make a small laugh occur from the viewers. Finally, as expected from this series, there is a solution and themes/lessons learned by the end of the episode.
It was easy to follow and enjoyable.(cs136)
